Who you are

We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) who will be responsible for the quality of Superpedestrian’s supplier-manufactured mechanical parts. An early responsibility of this position will be to develop and implement the supplier quality management processes and systems to ensure that parts are continuously delivered by our suppliers at acceptable quality levels. The SQE will also be responsible for managing and reporting on the day to day quality performance of our suppliers, and leading problem resolution with our suppliers.  In addition, the SQE will conduct supplier factory and process audits and qualifications, and play an integral part in Superpedestrian’s ongoing supplier selection process.


Successful candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of supplier quality engineering experience in China working with electromechanical parts in a high-volume environment. Specifically, you will need the experience and skills to effectively conduct the following major responsibilities:


What you’ll do:

  • Develop and implement our supplier quality management processes and systems to ensure that parts are continuously delivered by our suppliers at acceptable quality levels.
  • Lead FAI and Cpk reviews to finalize engineering specifications so that all critical dimensions are able to be mass produced at high yields.
  • Provide support to suppliers on-site for problem diagnosis and resolution, and manage supplier’s 8D problem solving process.
  • Review and approve supplier SOP’s and SIP’s, and ensure 100% SOP/SIP document compliance.
  • Review and approve supplier incoming and outgoing inspection methodologies, processes, and acceptance/rejection criteria.
  • Achieve 100% OQC/IQC correlation between suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Develop supplier quality KPI’s and weekly reporting format and content.
  • Conduct supplier factory and process audits and qualifications.
  • Implement Continuous Improvement Systems and regular progress reporting with all key suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier tool qualifications necessary to achieve required supply capacities.
  • Ensure on-site supplier coverage during critical phases of the NPI process.
  • Travel to suppliers as required.


What we’re looking for:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in plastic injection molding, extrusions, machining, and finishing processes and the assembly process for electromechanical products.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in electromechanical parts supplier quality engineering within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with consumer products that require cosmetic finishes.
  • GD&T experience is required.
  • APQP experience is beneficial.
  • An excellent problem solver applying analytical and data-driven methodologies.
  • Comfortable working in a start-up environment – able to create and implement processes and systems from scratch.
  • A proven supplier relationship management track record.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both Mandarin and English.
  • Ability to effectively work in a multicultural global business environment.
